Escape to Doon. DO you love reading in the scottish accent? Are you into brogue? If so, you will LOVE Doon. Doon features the story of Veronica and MacKenna, two girls on a trip to Scotland to visit the house of Kenna’s aunt. Veronica, fresh off a breakup starts to have visions of a hunky Scottish prince, thinking it’s just excitement for the journey ahead, she brushes it off. That is, until she hears a story that suddenly makes all of her ‘daydreams’ slightly more real.
What follows next is an adventure that finds Kenna and Veronica in the country of Doon, a magical land hidden from the world that only opens every 100 years. While their welcome in Doon is not exactly the warmest, they quickly come to enjoy their time exploring the land and of course falling in love with two dreamy princes, Jamie and Duncan.
While at times, I found the dynamic between Jamie and Veronica annoying, just because they were too pigheaded to acknowledge what was in front of them, I enjoyed exploring Doon. If anything I could have used more of Doon, as all too often the Castle was the primary locale. Doon switches back and forth between Kenna and Veronica telling their story which gives the book a fresh perspective.
If you are interested in fantasy romances that are influenced by Christian overtones, you will enjoy this book. I am giving it 4/5 stars for a great story and look forward to reading the next two books in the series.
