Shades of Doon is an absolutely fantastic book and a great continuation of the Doon series by Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon. While I had slight reservations about Veronica and Mackenna after Destined for Doon, in Shades of Doon they are back in fine form. When trouble strikes and they are betrayed by a close friend, both Mackenna and Veronica are cast out of Doon due to the workings of the witch. Of course Jamie and Duncan go to retrieve them.
In Shades of Doon a lot of the questions I had regarding their family and whether they would be missed were laid to rest. Both Veronica and Mackenna seemed to gain closure, and of course we got to see Jamie and Duncan having a grand old time enjoying the modern world. Jamie in particular was hilarious as he marveled over modern pleasures.
Of course the return to Doon revealed that the witch was up to even more plots than they originally assumed. As the final pages of the book wound down one interaction after another made me even more impatient for what will ultimately be the last book in the series. It is for this reason that I am giving this book 5/5 stars for fantastic writing and a plot I just could not stop reading.
I received this book for free from BookLook Bloggers in exchange for my honest review.
