Blade’s Edge by Virginia McClain is superb. Blade’s Edge is the story of friends Mishi and Taka, orphan girls that grew up and protected one another, including their secret. One day, all of that changed as Mishi and Taka were sold off to new homes and new experiences. It is only though losing one another that they are able to find themselves and attempt to enact a change that will change the landscape of of their civilization.
Blade’s Edge goes back and forth seamlessly between the viewpoints of Taka and Mishi. It is refreshing as a female reader to finally see a story where woman are cast in a such a strong main role. McClain also crafts an amazingly rich tapestry, from the front to the back cover that made Blade’s Edge hard to put down. If you like adventure, fantasy, coupled with Samurai like individuals, then you are in luck! I am giving this book 5/5 swords for a fantastic novel, strong supporting casts, and a beautiful landscape. If you have not yet read Blade’s Edge I strongly urge you to do so immediately.
I received this book free from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
