A Just Man by Helen Daniel is a short and sweet book written for a younger, adolescent audience. A Just Man tells the story of the Matthews family from the Revolutionary war as they struggle to stay firm within God. What I appreciated most about A Just Man was the simplicity of the story. Considering that Helen Daniel frequently would create children’s stories and plays to supplement her lessons for Church school, it is clear that her intended audience was younger, but even so, adults can also learn from this story.
If you enjoy faith based stories of God that are easy to understand, A Just Man would be the perfect book for you. It has hints of the prodigal son and a story of love and compassion rooted in a Christian life. I am giving this book 4/5 stars.
